Next Sunday the skippers and crews of the TBYC will gather at the clubhouse to “collect the silverware”- the fruits of their efforts in what was a very competitive season of sailing over the 2007/08 season. The results are a carefully held secret between Commodore Roger Mathews and his Race Co-ordinator – but those boats so familiar to readers of the local paper will figure prominently.
The Presentations will be preceded by the TBYC Annual General Meeting starting at 11:00AM and will be followed by a social BBQ provided by the club, where the proud recipients can show-off their trophies and recount with nostalgia those nail-biting races of the season past.
All Members are encouraged to come along and participate in all three activities and hear of the plans that the outgoing committee will recommend to the members and new committee in order to enhance the club infrastructure and facilities and to achieve greater participation and social interaction.
TBYC has developed a reputation for efficiently running National Yachting Titles over recent years. Indeed many small-boat classes have enjoyed the hospitality of the town of Eden and remarked on our beautiful venue and organisational professionalism of the TBYC. The very large and active Flying Eleven Association has recently requested TBYC to host their National Titles in January 2009 – their approach has been accepted. Eden and TBYC will thus host about 80 yachts and up to 400 young skippers, their family & friends during the early weeks of January. This may be the biggest regatta that TBYC has undertaken and the committee will be seeking the maximum possible involvement by the club members and the general community to make the event a success.
